christmas creating...
for the last 3 years I have made something 'new' for our Christmas decorations and pretties...in an effort to get away from plastic baubles etc (nothing wrong with em! just wanting someting a bit more handcrafted)...so the year before last, I made sweet little bird ornaments out of re-purposed fabrics and wool batting, last year I made new table runners and clothes, felt hearts.
.
this year I have made this wee angel garland out of a re-purposed woolen blanket, old crochet doilie and ribbon...and then as I had lots of pretty ribbon left I thought I would up-date the inside wreath....so would love to have finished all the other things I had planned, but are also in the middle of packing to move so, yeah, not gonna happen this year!

Easter begins with new life

Easter is a special time of giving thanks in our family....thanks for Jesus` giving His life for ours....I usually try and make it an 'EVENT', although the energy levels this year are a bit low! Simple is my friend this year!
This week the kids and I dyed some eggs for our table centre display, and I made a felt 'we give thanks' banner. ... we have some art on the table ready to be done, and some stories to be read, snuggled under a blanket to be had shortly.
We are off to a community Easter Egg hunt shortly...which is a new thing for us....tonight we are going to have a simple and heartfelt 'Shabbat' dinner with our sweet children, we are hosting a brunch and smallish children's Easter party tomorrow night; on Sunday we will do our traditional Egg hunt, and family Easter story telling night, and Monday will hopefully be spent sitting on the beach or in the bush, or in bed!(er last one is, NOT likely, but a wonderful thought!)... so a few things for us all to look forward to.
I encourage anyone who might read this, to read the Easter story - you are a treasured and dear jewel - enough to die for, enough to give hope to. Bless ya. x

Farmers Market finds...
We went through to the Paeroa's Farmers MArket for the first time the other weekend....very teeny and to be honest all the good intentions of buying local organic produce gave way to the wee thrift tables and finds we made there...I mean money only goes so far and who could say no to mussel fritters (ew! by the amn likes em) and sauages sizzles, thrift stall, fresh bread and homemade pickles....must take more money next time! Anyways...heres a beautful blazer we found Nyah ...its pure NZ wool, beautifully cut and just looked a bit sad, but after a good soak, some new mismatched button, and a handcreated felt brooch...VIOLA it has a new life...and looks gorgeous on my goregeous girl! All for the grand total of ....drumroll....50cents (truly!)
Easter-part 2
On sunday we always have done a treaure hunt and chocolate eggs, I thought this year our 11 year old might wanna be incharge of it for the younger kids.....but no, she was so excited about it and sooo wanted to be part of it- funny thing....apparently the crazy clues, digging for treaure, twirling down the hill and singing Mum songs is still cool (all to get to the next clue! Totally can milk that one! "Tell Mum have wondeful she is in 6 different ways"- teehee)....anyho, I also made them each a wee basket of Easter things to do, crosswords, an Easter Poem, wee handstitched felt hearts with their initals on, to use as a book mark and remind them of Jesus's love for them and ours too...etc....these went down well, although I suspect it was the weeny eggs in the bottom that were the favourite bit! Kids after my own heart!! oh, and who can let Easter happen without making delicious Hot Cross Buns....but hey thery are good anytime of the year! Steaming hot outta the oven, smothered in butter and homemade jam....gonna make some more today!
NB: the wee fellas sooo didn't eat all that chocolate, its totally for show, and meant wee could have a wee nosh too!!
